Miranda Lambert is one of the most charitable country singers out there. She personally traveled to Houston with her organization, Muttnation Foundation, to help rescue dogs from Hurricane Harvey and relocate them to make room for more animals in need.
Not only do animals touch a special place in her heart, so do Texans. Lambert heard about a young Texan by the name of Tatum Schulte who was battling cancer and sent her some love via a video message.
According to Tatum’s Team Tatum Facebook page, the fourth grader “was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her leg and an area on her spine.” Osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer, which calls for surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Because of her diagnosis, her left leg was amputated below the knee over a year ago.
Her parents have been keeping her friends and family updated with her health on the special Facebook page, and over the weekend, they received something that definitely lifted Tatum’s spirits.
“Hey Tatum! It’s Miranda Lambert,” she said in the video posted by Tatum’s dad Travis. “I heard you’re a big fan and you’re a Texas girl. I just wanted to tell you hello and that my thoughts and prayers are with you, and that you’re tough and brave just like a Texas girl should be, and I’m sending you all the hugs and kisses in the world.”
If that wasn’t enough to get the waterworks going, Travis also posted a video of Tatum’s reaction to Lambert’s video!
The second Tatum heard Miranda Lambert’s voice, she had a huge smile on her face. You can see the young girl getting a little emotional over her favorite singer taking the time out of her day to send her an uplifting message.
It’s incredible how the smallest acts of kindness, like Lambert’s video, can bring such joy and hope to a young girl like Tatum who is battling one of the toughest things she will ever face.
We will keep Tatum and her family in our prayers during this fight. Watch the videos below.
